Dear Friends,
Merry Christmas! We hope that this Christmas season finds you well as you celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It has been a busy year in the Rivas household. We have had an eventful year full of trials and blessings. But it is through our difficult times that we have seen God's faithfulness and blessings more clearly than ever. We have been blessed by God to have such wonderful friends who faithfully pray for us and our needs.
Alberto has been very busy working in Monte Cristi this year with a new church plant. We have bought a house there and will be moving this summer. We have a carport behind the house where we are currently holding church services. He has also been helping other missionaries with mission groups, medical clinics, and other needs.
Lynette is keeping busy teaching kindergarten at Santiago Christian School and being a wife and a mother. She is looking forward to being a full-time wife and mother next year. It has been a tough year for Lynette. She had a miscarriage in April and then returned to the States in November for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. It was such a blessing to be able to see family and friends in the States.
Abigail is 2 1/2. She is learning new things all the time. Her favorite color is yellow (the one color she always identifies correctly). She loves singing, Barney and B.J., and helping Mommy in the kitchen. It is interesting to watch her as she learns both Spanish and English, often combining both in a sentence. Her time in the States really helped improve her English skills. It was also neat to see her get to play with her cousins, Grandpa, and Grandma. Abigail is a very active, helpful, and happy girl.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all of our friends and family for your support in prayer and finances this past year. It is because of your help that we are able to do what we do in the Dominican Republic.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!
Alberto, Lynette, and Abigail Rivas
