"Dick" became a Christian as a teenager at First Christian Church Church, Farmer City, IL. He received college training in Lincoln Christian College, Western Illinois University, and Louisville Bible College. He was ordained by the church in Farmer City.
He preached six years in Yorktown, IL from which he helped a start church at Prophetstown, preaching for both for two years. He stayed at Prophetstown 11 years and while there helped start and preach for new churches at Morrison and Sterling, IL. He preached for both along with the church at Prophetstown until each had grown to afford ministers.
Kempton Christian Church, Kempton, IN called Dick to be a minister in 1971. He began founding a disaster program in 1973 as a result of his efforts to help Hurricane Camille victims in 1969. He learned about IDES in 1973 and was asked by the IDES board to become their first manager.
Dick served as the only staff person for IDES for ten years. He was named General Manager when additional staff was added in 1984. In 1989 he asked the board to reassign him to Manager of Donor Relations. He continues in that capacity today.
Earlier in his ministry with IDES Dick taught missions and Bible classes taught Louisville Bible College for three years. He also served as interim minister for Main Street Christian Church in Russiaville, IN and Chapel Hill Christian Church in Kamomo, IN. He has written numerous articles for brotherhood publications and presents seminars, workshops, and lectures for churches, convetions, a and collages when needed.
The ministry if IDES has proved Dick with many opportunities to be involved with ministering to victims of disaster and famine as well as helping meet many other needs. He hs encouraged development programs among unreached people groups and as a result churches have been planted in areas of the world where the Gospel had never been heard. This work has been conducted through missionaries sponsored by the churches.
In his present capacity Dick specializes in matters relating to supporting churches and individual donors. He helps produce programs for Vacation Bible Schools, youth groups, and camps. He speaks for Faith Promise and mission rallies, worship services, and revivals. He is currently scheduling Faith Promise Programs and revivals up o the year 2000. Currently he is scheduled for some months at least a year ahead.
Dick is married to Eleanor Reinhart of Fisher, IL. They have three sons, all of whom live away form home. They have fine grandchildren.
