The mission of IDES is to serve as a channel through which Christian Churches and Churches of Christ and individual Christians can meet the physical and spiritual needs of suffering people throughout the world.

Vision Statement

Help as many as we can, in as many ways as we can, in as many places as we can, both physically and spiritually.

THAILAND:

Yohan Yotkiri - Kymer Christian Services - reported there were 30,000 Cambodian refugees in camp Huay Cherng, Surin, Thailand. Many of these were orphans, widows, crippled, and older people. Their need was for clothes, mosquito nets, blankets, food, and toiletries.

IDES responded through Christopher Lapel - Cambodian minister at Golden West Christian Church, Los Angeles, CA - and sent funds for Christopher to use in this camp. Following his visit Christopher reported the Thai government was doing everything possible to repatriate these people and help was no longer needed.

BANGLADESH:

Christians rebuilt several church buildings that were destroyed by a recent cyclone. Food was also provided for 126 families. Many of them were Christians. They expressed praise to God for our help.

Damoh, INDIA:

Vivek Lall of Mid-India Christian Mission informed IDES of a major earthquake that occurred near the city of Jubulpur May 21 at 4:20 a.m. His letter stated: "Many buildings collapsed and there is massive destruction. - Locals estimate over 250 deaths in the Northeast and thousands injured. All the hospitals are packed. In Damoh most of the houses including ours are full of small cracks but no major damage."
IDES sent $7,500 which was used to provide "clay bricks, cement, tin, plastic sheets for roofs and other building materials. Along with these materials we would take possibly 10% and provide medical help. Our mission would be happy to pay for the Bibles, evangelism, and trip expenses."
