Passover is actually the tale of two different lambs, from different times in Jewish history. The blood of the first Passover lambs in Egypt told the plague of death. "Leave the Jewish people along! These people are God's people!" Many years later, God sent another lamb, Jesus, to die for the sins of the whole world.
The story of the first lamb and our redemption from Egypt helps us recognize Jesus, the second Lamb, and how His death and resurrection made it possible for us to be free from sin and death. When we receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord, the blood of the Lamb of God seals the doorposts of our hearts, showing that we are His people. If we believe in the sacrifice of God's Lamb, we have a second kind of Passover a spiritual one, where we pass from spiritual death (sepatation from God caused by our sin) into eternal life and a forever relationship with our loving God.
Exodus 12:17
"Celebrate this Festival of Unleavened Bread, for it will remind you that I brought you out of the land of Egypt on this very day...."
Matthew 26:27
"... Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which seals the conenant between God and his people. it is poured out to forgive the sins of many."
Remembering great miracles helps us trust in God. As we remember God's power in bringing the Israelites out of Egypt, it will give us courage to rely on Him to bring us out of the troubles we may face today.
