Communion Meditation for Young People

Mark 8:17-18
Trust

Children in AfricaCamel in Desert Sometimes we get discouraged because we don't think we as much things as we think we should.  We see all the other stuff everyone else has, and we think we are missing something very important.  Why, they have a blue scateboard and yours just isn't as new....

In a letter I received this week from CMF, this was reported:  "Right now across Maasailand there is a terrible drought.  The long rains have failed.  Many of  our friends are beginning to have serious problems feeding their families.  We have head reports of people who have died of starvation."

Hmmm.... Feeling a little guilty?  Your brothers and sisters in Christ are selling everything they have in order to put food on their table.  After they have sold everything they have, then with what can they use to get food?  After the food quits, then the weakest die first.  Would this shake your faith in Jesus Christ?

[Mark 8:17-18
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?  Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?" ]

Rainbow of HopeJesus Christ is our hope and our reason for living.  Although we live in a fallen world where many bad things happen, God is in control and he works everything to HIS good.  For all you and I know, the plight of the people in Maasailand may have happened JUST so you and I can respond.  Let us begin by praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering and then resolve to do your part.

Can you think of some things you can do this week to help?
