Do you know what Communion means? Communion is defined as "The act or an instance of sharing, as of thoughts or feelings. "

When we come together on Sunday and share Communion, we are not just sharing some bread and juice. We are all, at the very same time, thinking of God and Jesus Christ and we are all having an emotional response to Christ at the same time.

It is as if this were your birthday and everyone had just sang Happy Birthday to you, and now you are about to blow out the candles. Everyone there is there to share in one thing, aren't they? They are all in communion with you on your birthday and they will top it off with cake and ice-cream.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."]

As we take communion today, let's all pray Jesus forgives us for our selfishness this week and that Jesus will graciously accept us and stay near our side this next week. This week, let us share what our thoughts and feelings towards Christ with others.
