Faith. What is faith? How do I demonstrate Faith?
When my son Daron could hardly stand, I used to stand him on the table and let him "jump" to me. At first, the distance was small, but as time went, the distance became further and further. Daron had "faith" I would catch him. His "faith" was in man and it was not a good "faith". When his Mom was changing his diapers, if she wasn't careful, he would get up and jump to her, even if her back was turned.
Later, when Daron was just a little older, and playing on the jungle gym, he stepped off the top of the gym, demonstrating his "faith" an unsuspecting adult would catch him. This "faith" was unwarranted and he received a few stitches as his reward. Daron put his "faith" in people, and sooner or later, people will always let you down. When you were baptized, however, you put your "faith" in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ will never let us down. When we pass the bread and the drink, we do so to remember what Jesus Christ did for us and as a token of our "faith" that in him, we are not lost. Remember, only those who have put their "Faith" in Jesus Christ by confessing their "Faith" before witnesses and being baptized share in this fellowship meal. However, everyone of us can pause to consider how our "faith" in Jesus Christ helps us to be more "faithful" to those who trust in us.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. It is our hope and the reason for our "faith", that we will one day sit at Jesus feet. Let us pray.
