Dear Prayer Supporters,
We just concluded our field team meetings and are now in Nairobi to restock supplies before heading for home. Here are some prayer requests we would like to enlist your support with:
* A friend of ours, Tim Holder, MD, is working on our behalf to organize his rotary club and fund a 4-wheel-drive clinic truck and/or a fleet of 6 clinic motorcycles. Any Rotarians or other interested friends, please contact Dr. Holder at tholder@ok.azalea.net Please pray that these efforts will be successful.
* One of our CMF teammates was assaulted in the month of October while walking within one kilometer of her home in the Maasai bush. Suzie was able to minister to her as friend and physician. This is an unheard of offense against a missionary in Maasai culture. Please pray for this family. (Name withheld upon request)
* In a related event, another CMF family, Peter & Tammy Russell & kids, have been forced to leave their home when CMF filed assault and attempted rape charges against the man who attacked our colleague. Young men within the community made threats against the family, and our team responded quickly by removing the Russells from the community. Please pray for this family as community meetings and community sentiment determine whether or not they can return home.
* Our CMF colleagues, Byron & Lisa Borden, are in Nairobi awaiting the arrival of their fourth child. Following three boys, the ultrasound says its a girl! Please pray for the safe arrival of our newest CMF MK (missionary kid). Pray also for Byron as he makes multiple trips to Narok town in an attempt to see that the man who robbed his home and assaulted his watchman back in May is brought to justice.
* Dave has been reelected chairman of the CMF-Kenya Field team by the 18 families and/or single missionaries ministering in Kenya. Pray for Dave as this makes him the Crisis Management Coordinator for the Kenya Field Team.
Dave is scheduled to teach a course on Church History for about 25 men November 16-21. Pray that this course will give Maasai church leaders insight into how God has shaped his church over the past 2000 years.
Pray for Dave as he works to establish a new clinic and central pharmacy in a strategic location (Ewaso Ngiro) linking our clinics into a viable system. We hope to have this clinic and pharmacy functional around the beginning of the year in rented facilities. We will soon ask our friends and supporters to consider sending a special gift toward the building of a permanent facility.
Let me assure you that our area of Maasailand remains peaceful and quite supportive of us. We live and work in an area where the church has taken root and lives have been transformed by Christ.
Some CMF families in Kenya have made an effort to be light in darkness where Christ is not yet known. Others work in border areas which have become dangerous due to bandits crossing into Kenya from other countries. We all rely on your prayer support.
We appreciate your prayers!
Grateful for Your Partnership,
Dave & Suzie Snyder
If you have E:Mail and would like to receive the monthly ministry updates from us, please send your E:Mail address to DSnyder@MAF.org Or, keep an eye on Dave & Suzie's web page for additional newsletters.
We challenge our supporting churches to designate this summer's VBS offerings for the purchase of clinic motorcycles. These motorcycles are an important asset to CMF's medical and evangelistic ministry. They provide the only means for the clinic workers to reach remote areas when someone is critically ill.
Checks should be made payable and sent to:
