Season's Greetings from the Snyders

December 2001

Dear Friends at Franklin Christian,

As we approach the season when believers across the world celebrate Christmas, we are reminded that we have so much for which to be grateful.

Elephants in Kenya

In July, we returned to Kenya and began our third term serving the Maasai with Christian Missionary Fellowship. After several weeks of searching and looking through 47 houses in Nairobi, we found the perfect home for us located within walking distance of the girls' school. We know that God answered our prayers. Thanks for being an important part of our prayer support team this past year!

Lauren and Rebekah.

In August, the girls started school at Rosslyn Academy, an international missionary school. This is their first experience outside of home school in Kenya, and the school has been a real blessing. Both girls love their teachers and classmates. Rebekah even started violin lessons. Lauren has benefited from special tutors, and we have really seen her reading skills improve. Thank you for your prayers for the safety and well-being of our children.

Franklin Christian Church Missions Trip in Kenya.

In October, our first group of visitors arrived from Franklin Christian Church near Nashville, Tennessee. They were a great encouragement both to us and Maasai believers as we introduced them to our life and ministry in Maasailand. We are grateful that the tragic events of September 11th did not keep them from making this trip. When our supporting churches ask what they can do to raise missions awareness in their congregations, we say "send us a team!"

Vanderbuilt Missions trip in Kenya.

In November, we hosted our first group of visitors from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Suzie, Christianne, and Beverly treated and prayed with patients in the clinics, while Chris and Dave took part in a discipleship training program recently launched by our team. We hope to host many other medical folks in the coming years. Medical students and residents are now offered school credit for working in our CMF clinics under Dr. Suzie's supervision since she is on Vandy's faculty as Assistant Clinical Professor in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

In November and December, Dave took part in ordination services in two Maasai areas, Oletukat and Losho. It is encouraging to see how God has called and set apart Maasai men to lead their churches. CMF missionaries and Maasai elders laid hands on new pastors, elders and deacons. The church in Maasailand is really growing and maturing in Christ. Pray for these leaders to lead their congregations wisely and effectively.

A Decade in Massailand: Thank You for Your Partnership!

It is hard to believe that January 7, 2002 marks our tenth anniversary of service in Kenya We want to thank you for your faithful partnership with us over the past decade. We have seen God's faithfulness through your prayer and financial support of our family and the ministry to which our Lord called us. Because of your partnership, we have been able to participate in what God is doing among the Maasai building his church, training leaders, ministering to the sick through eight bush clinics, and feeding the hungry during times of drought.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

May God bless you with a special season of celebrating the birth of Christ, the coming of Emmanuel. In a world marked by the events we have all witnessed recently, how comforting it is to be reminded that "God is with us!" May God embolden each of us to introduce others to our Lord, Jesus Christ - the Prince of Peace - in the coming year.

Your Partners in Ministry to the Maasai,
Dave and Suzie
