We are in our new work and we need your prayers

G'day, Sharon and I pray that all is well with you all. We also pray that God has used you in a mighty way. Once more we wanted to thank all of you for taking care of us while we were in the States recently. To those of you who had us in your home we are so thankful to God for the time we had with you.

As you can see by the title above we are in our new work in Thornton. The work here needs a lot of hard work, but that is why we came here. We saw the opportunity, and prayed about what God could do through us there. Now we are here and we can see the ministry opportunities, and realize what it is going to take.

What we have mostly realized is that we cannot do it, we need you to pray for us, that God would open up the hearts of those who are here. We know that our work cannot take place unless there are people praying for us. So please daily pray for us. If you look to the place on this letter where it says prayer points you will know what you can pray for now.

In the time that we have before the new year Sharon and I will be assessing what is needed.

We are excited about the youth group work that has taken place here, but we can see that there is much to take place in the area of spiritual maturity. The youth group teens certainly are full of life, and have their ideas as to what they want to see happen in the youth group, but we know that there certainly needs to be more of a focus on what God wants.

The Sunday School needs a lot of work, better planning, more teachers, and lots of prayer.

The night that we have Bible study needs to be worked out because the people seem to have conflicts with which night all of them could get together. Right now there are only 11 member's in the church.

The worship service needs much work. It needs a new fresh approach, because the people seem to have gotten into a rut, with the one they have now. There are many dead spots in the service.

Right now I am reading a book titled, "The Five Star Church." This book has opened my eyes to some important truths about how the church functions and how it could be.

I am also reading another book titled "Becoming your favorite church." These books have some great advice as to how to make changes, and a difference.

We need you to pray that we would have wisdom and insight as to know how to help this new work move forward.

Thanks again,
we pray that God will richly bless you,
Philip.

God bless,
yours in Christ,
your Aussie mate,

Phil Eagling.

Sharon's Desk

Hi everyone, we pray that all is well with all of you. I am so glad that we have finally made it to Thornton, and that we have begun to settle in. We had a great time over there with you all, but it is also just as good to be able to get back into a routine.

I know that this is exactly what Savannah needed, as she has begun to use the bathroom like most three year olds. She needed to get back into a routine.

Please pray for the following items. I have researched what some of the needs of this community is. One huge need is a place for young Mothers to go with their babies, and small children. So we are planning to organize a play - group type time for them. We may even look into the MOPS program.

I found out that there were at least 165 children on waiting lists for day care in the Thornton area. This means that there are at least 330 adults we can reach with the gospel, God willing.

Philip has said that there is a lot of work to be done here, and that it can only take place if we know that you are praying. I can see that there is so much potential here, but it is going to take a lot of work, a lot of praying, a lot of careful planning, and a lot of wisdom. So please pray for us. I wanted to thank you all once more for your continued prayers and support of us.

God bless,
bye for now,
love
Sharon.

God bless,
Sharon

Savannah’s Learning Page

G’day from down-under.

We are back in Australia, and we are finally getting into what my daddy calls a routine. He says that it is important for every family to have a routine. I am not old enough to understand that word yet, but it sure has made my mummy happier.

Last weekend I got to go with the big kids, the ones that are in the youth group, to water skiing with another church youth group. It was really bonzer (cool). I did not get to ski, but I got to go in the speedboat.

My daddy said that he did not want to ride on the boat because he was getting long in the tooth. I am not sure of what that means, because daddy does not have long teeth, ha ha.

The other day when daddy had a little time on Sunday afternoon after church he sat down and started to yell at the TV again. He said that the umpire was wrong, when he watched a show called cricket. That did not last too long because he did his usual thing and fell asleep. Daddy says that he likes to have a kip (sleep) on Sunday afternoons. I don’t mind him doing that, but I wish he could give me some ear plugs, as he sounds like a chain saw when he sleeps.

I wanted to say thank you to all those kids who made me feel welcome while I was in America. I had a beaut time. My mummy said that it took us about 42 hours to get to you and about 36 hours to get home. All I know is that I sure loved watching the videos in the back of the seat in the plane. I wanted to also thank all the grown ups for showing me a ridgy-didge (unreal) time as well. I know that I have many American Grandparents, and Aunts and uncle’s to look forward to seeing again sometime when we come back to you.

Thank you heaps.

May Jesus be the reason, for your Christmas season,
love
Savannah.
