Sharon and I pray that you all have seen God at work in your life.
The work here is moving along. We are in the process of looking at ways in which we can reach out more. One such way is with a soccer team that one of our new members is the coach. It is our intention to build relationships with these soccer players. So please pray for that.
I want to ask if you all could pray for my family. My parents are going through a relationship struggle, and this is after 45 years of marriage. I would never have thought it possible that this could happen to my parents. Please pray for them!
I guess that all of us have areas in our lives that don’t always meet our expectations. This is why it is so important to have a relationship with the Lord. I know that I have had to be in prayer about my family quite a bit lately. My brother Tim has had to have surgery for possible cancerous tumours.
Please keep praying for the youth group here. There are some that have said that they don’t want to hear about "Christian stuff." There is a real spiritual battle going on. As if I didn’t know that before. We are fooling ourselves if we think that we are not in a spiritual battle. We are told that in Ephesians chapter 6.
The church here has experienced some struggles of late, with one family in particular not taming the tongue, as James tells us. This has caused some concern, and we certainly need you to pray for a positive outcome.
In the last weekend of June we will be having a men’s retreat. I am organizing this weekend, and I need your prayer for that as well. We are wanting to encourage our men to make a better stand. The question is what does it mean to be a man of God? This plus other issues will be dealt with at the retreat. So please keep this in your prayers.
Also please pray for our Sunday School. In most Australian churches there is not an adult Sunday School class. This is something that we are wanting to set up here. We have thought about what kind of materials to use, but we were wondering if you all would have any suggestions, or even some spare materials of which we could use. If so, could you please let us know by email. Our email address is in this newsletter.
Also on that subject of emails, we were so greatful recently to have received a email from a young girl of one of our supporting churches. This email really encouraged us. We do appreciate your emails, so please feel free to send them.
Please keep praying for the church here, that we will have wisdom, and the people will step out in faith.
Please email us,
God bless,
Phil.
Hi again everyone,
hope this letter finds you all well. Speaking of being well, we need your prayers. Savannah and I have not been well. We have had the flu.
Before Easter our church and Charlestown church got together for a womens camp. The speaker was Betty Gray from the States, maybe some of you know of her. We had a great time of fellowship. Betty presented several inspiring dramas and talks. All those that attended this weekend were challeneged as well as encouraged. We were also priveledged to have singer song writer and worship leader Julie Neville. Julie’s presence added even more to the whole experience.
The women that came from Thornton are pictured on the photo page we have, and Betty Gray and Julie are pictured with us. There were at least two young teens, Emma, of which most of you have prayed for in the past, and Denise. These two young ladies have shown so much growth in the last six months, we just praise God for working in their lives. Emma was baptized last October, 2003. We would like you to pray for Denise as she is still searching, we believe she is close to making a decision.
Of late we have had to deal with some issues in the church, as Philip has told you. We have also had to deal with a family problem as well. Philip’s mother and father have had some marriage problems. Philip’s mother has certainly been there for me ever since my mother passed away, and so I am truly feeling saddened by all that is going on. We have certainly felt the Spiritual attack that is coming at us from two different levels. So please pray for us as we struggle with these situations. Please pray that we will have wisdom and strength in the Lord to deal with these struggles.
On a more personal note Savannah is going well. She is still at preschool. She is always coming home telling us that she has a new friend. I guess she is like her Dad in that. He finds it easy to make new friends more than I do.
As I have said all along I am one to work behind the scenes, only to find out that God wants more than that. This I have mentioned before. God does work on us in those areas we seem to not want to go to. As Philip has said God works on the character in us, through times of perseverance.
God bless,
love,
Sharon.
Gday mates (friends) I hope that you all are well. I have had not been well recently. I have had a cough. What do you take when you get a cough? My mummy gives me this cough syrup, I don’t like it much.
My mummy also puts this funny smelly stuff called eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief, and I breathe it in every now and then. It comes from the eucalyptus tree. I don’t know if you all have any of those kind of trees, but they are really nice down here.
I am not sure if I have talked about food to you all, but what I tasted the other day was so bonzer, I just have to tell you about it. I tasted a bacon and cheese meat pie the other day. It was so great. And a sausage roll with tamato sauce (ketchup) on them both. When some fo you who are planning to come down here in October come you will be able to taste a meat pie or two.
My daddy said that we will be having a church picnic in May and we will be having snags (sausages) on the barbie (Barbeque).
Who of you likes to eat chocolate? My mummy said that we have a good chocolate called cadbury. My daddy said that he liked the hugs and kisses that he got in America, but I told him that mine were better. Ha ha.
My mummy said that very soon we were going to start helping out a mothers refuge. I don’t know what that means, but mum said that we need to help them because they are hurting inside. That is a good enough reason isn’t it. I like helping people. How about you? Well I need to go now.
May God be your strength,
your little Aussie mate,
Savannah
