Gday from your Aussie mates in Christ. We trust that God is doing a great work through you all as you serve Him.
We praise God for His all sufficiency. We need to always remember to surrender to God, for that is when we see Him do a mighty work through us.
On Easter Sunday night the combined churches of this place got together and had a recognized Australian evangelist speak. This night was great. There were about 30 decisions made that night. Not from our church, but from all the churches combined.
Please pray for the people that went forward. Please start praying also for the mini-crusade (revival) that is taking place from Friday August 3rd to the 5th 2001. Please pray that God would bring about a revival in the hearts of the people. The people very much need to know the difference between the true God, and the "tolerant god."
The general attitude in this place is one that involves tolerance for all value systems, all truth that comes out of the mind of man, and intolerance for the person or persons who have a true conviction, based in Christ. I have experienced this kind of intolerance with some young people recently when I was trying to explain that there is only one God. The general remark given back was how can you say that, what makes you right and us wrong? The value systems, the moral issues that do exist in this place do concern us. Please pray for the youth of this place. It is most likely that these youth have not grown up with any knowledge of God, of which we know to be absolute truth. So when told about the reality of Christ in my life and those who believe, there is a real negative response.
The trouble with people in today’s society is that everything is relative. Relativism is found in people who have no desire to have any true conviction, they are those people who seek everything that is related to self. This is exactly what happened in the Garden of Eden. The self took over, and eating the fruit became a relative act to Adam and Eve. If it is relative to you then eat. There are those who do not want to know anything about what God has made an absolute certainty, eternal life!
Please pray for us as we have had a struggle lately with this intolerance. We know that God is going before us, and we know that the powers of this earth do not want to see a change in the lives of young minds and people in general, so there is a real spiritual battle going on. PLEASE PRAY FOR US!
Our care group is going well, we hope to have a new couple this coming week. Also I have started a Spiritual gifts seminar on Sunday nights, please pray for this, as we desperately need people in the church to see what they are gifted in, and participate in ministry. God bless, yours in Christ, Philip.
Thank you all again,
God bless,
Philip.
Hi again, hope this letter finds you all well. Well things are getting cooler here. We have had to get out the warm clothes and such. I know that seems odd to you all right now, with the warmer climate now up there. Maybe some of you may have to come down some time and find out what our winter or summer is like and compare it to yours.
I just recently went to women’s camp and I was truly blessed by the time that I had there. Some of the ladies in the church came and we were able to get to know each other better. While I was at this camp Savannah stayed home with her dad, of which he says that they had a great time. I think he found out what it is like being a mother very quickly. He did say that he enjoyed his time with her.
We have had a struggle lately with some things that have taken place with people in the church. There are some people who are new to their faith and they have had struggles that we have had to help them with. There is also a family that we have had to help who have been riding a roller coaster ride in their marriage for as long as they have been married. Please pray for this family, as we had to think of the children and call the welfare department to come and get involved. As the church does not have any Christian counselors who are trained for this kind of thing, we found that it was the only choice we had to make. IT WAS HARD TO DO. We prayed about it, and thought it was best to call them. The mother of this family came running into the church screaming out satan is after me, and she did this while she had her baby daughter and small boy under her arms. She then left her children with us and preceded to run to the bridge in town and jump off it. She is okay, but you can see why we had to do what we did. The week before this, a
lady in the church unfortunately had a bad day and verbally attacked Philip. So we have felt that satan is attacking us, and we need your prayers. We know that God is in control, and that God works for the good of those who love Him. We know that we alone cannot win any battles, and Philip has reminded me of Ephesians chapter six recently.
So could you please pray for us as we have felt this. Philip said that when there is great blessing ahead, satan knows this, and he does his best to stir things, to try and make it hard for that blessing to come.
We would appreciate any letters or emails about how your church is going. Maybe even just a card. We all need some encouragement every now and then. God bless, Sharon.
Thank you.
God Bless.
Sharon
The other day Oz (Australia) celebrated one hundred years of being a federation. I don’t know what that means, but daddy said that it meant that as a nation Australia has had its own governerning system in place.
My dad told me that when he was in America he taught some of you cricket. My dad said that the baggy green (Australian Test cricketers) are on top of the world cricket board. He says that when we come back to America we will again teach all the tiddly lids (children) how to play it again.
Speaking of children my mum said that there were some young boys who had gone troppo (slighty mad, from being in the sun too long), the other day because they had played cricket in the heat too long.
My dad said that there were a lot of people around with a wog ( with the flu), and that because of this, we need to get a flu needle. I said that I am a little toey (nervous) about having a needle dad. He said to me no worries.
My mum shouted out that we all have to start rugging up and putting on our doona’s (duvet, quilt), so that we don’t wake up cold and help the flu to start. Dad said, yes, that reminded him of a show that he and mummy used to watch called the Andy Griffith show. Dad said that there was this fella by the name of Barny, and he used to say, "well Andy you gotta, nip it, nip it, nip it in the bud". Dad said that we need to nip this flu thing in the bud too. I thought that was rather funny. Fancy having to nip your doona! Ha Ha.
We are going up north to the sun and heat real soon for a holiday, so I better get some sleep, bye for now, may Jesus be the light in you.
May Jesus be the heart of your mind and soul,
love
Savannah
