We are coming next year, in June 2002, God willing!

Alan and Gwenda with Savannah. They are a part of the new leadership team. A great couple! Pray for them please. Greetings from your Aussie mates in Christ. Sharon and I thank God for your prayers and support that we receive from you all.

Recently in the church here the people voted in new leaders for the leadership team. Sharon and I are excited about the new challenges ahead, and the new ideas that these people will bring.

These ideas have to do with the outreach of the church. This is why we exist, is it not! To bring people to know what it means to have an eternal hope. A lasting relationship with Christ.

As I mentioned in the January newsletter, we are making plans to begin new ministries here. One of those new ministries, is working with single mothers. Please can you pray that we would have the wisdom to know how to reach these women.

This coming Friday, Sharon, myself, and another leader are taking the youth to a concert. You may get this letter after the event, but could you pray for these youth that God would open their eyes to the Gospel message. There will be at least 6 teens that have not made a decision to follow Christ.

Also on youth, we need to ask you to pray for Mark, Anthony, David, Kayla, Remy, Tristan, Charlotte, Daniel, Neil, Fiona, and Wayne. I have the opportunity to be with these youth and need your prayers to be able to break through to them. It is not always easy to break through to the youth, but we know that God can do anything!

At this time I would like to mention to you all that we are planning to come back to America next year in June, 2002, God willing. Our forwarding agent will begin to make plans for us, concerning a time to come and report to you all, as the time approaches. We will be looking forward to seeing you all. Please pray about this time also, and possibly begin to think about a time for us to come to you.

We would suggest that we could speak at a combined Sunday school class, or I could preach. Or we could speak to the children. Also if there is a camp that you would want us to be a part of, just let us know, and we will see if this is possible.

The church here is growing, the people I believe are starting to capture the vision that we are trying to give them. The aim is to see the church become the right choice for people. I recently preached a sermon on the "REAL GOD." In this valley as I have mentioned before there are many belief systems. There are people who wear crystals and say that there are many gods. This is what we are dealing with. These people do not see the church as the answer, we pray that this will change. Can you also pray that way too.

Thank you all again,

God bless,

Philip.

Sharon's Desk

Hello again, thanks for your prayers and support. I would like to ask you if you could pray for the young mothers of this place. There are many who are hurting. They have had terrible experiences, and they need to know what a difference the love of Jesus Christ makes.

The ladies group is going well with us now meeting on a monthly basis which is exciting. The ladies are keen to keep helping the women’s shelter as much as we can. The idea was bought forward to have a pampering day for the ladies doing hair, make up, etc. Unfortunately, because the ladies don’t want to be known as needy, or needing to remain anonymous we can’t specifically ask them. However, the idea of having a single Mum’s pamper day as an outreach is being tossed around at the moment.

Savannah is definitely keeping us on our toes these days! To say the least!!!! She is a very bright little girl and we are truly blessed by God. Her latest fad is cows at the moment. We went to visit a couple from the church that had cows roaming in their yard so, now everything is cows and moo! She only stops talking when she sleeps. She definitely has a mind of her own and knows what she wants and if she doesn’t get it will repeat it constantly until she gets it or we divert her attention to something else. Mind of her own hmm, wonder where she gets that from I wonder….. Ha ha.

We would ask that you would pray for Sue and Howard. They are good friends of Philip’s sister who had a full term baby die at birth last week. This is such a difficult time for them and also Philip’s sister, Donna, and her husband, Steve, who struggle with the words to comfort them. My heart just breaks for them and just can’t even imagine what they are going through.

Thank you.

God Bless. Sharon

How to speak Australian and other information about Australia

Gday from down under. How are all my American mates? (friends) You know I asked mummy about how far it was to America from here, and she said it was about 13 hours on a plane. My mum said that I acted hooley dooley (surprised).

You know what my dad said that I was on a plane when I was only an ankle-biter (baby). I asked dad if sprogs (children), were aloud to take a squiz (have a look at) where the pilot controlled the plane and he said it all depended if the pilot wanted to do a doozey (something nice).

If I come over to America next year will you take me out for brekkie (breakfast) at Craker Barrel because my mum and dad say that it is bonza (great).

I know this much, I will probably miss my meat pies and saugage rolls, not to mention those vegemite sandwiches, but I have been told that the place called Hardies has also the best biscuits and gravy around. I have no clue what that is, but I am guessing from my daddies facial expressions that he can’t wait.

Have I told you all that we live in the bush (outside the city), and recently we had a bush dance. My dad says that a bush dance is where the people get up and dance in lines and apparently these dances come from America, England and Australia.

It seems like we have a lot of things in common, but there are some obvoius differences as well. Like, we are down under while you are up over. We also speak differently. Anyway I need to choof off. So have a good weekend and don’t forget the aerogaurd (mozzie= mosquito repelant).

May Jesus be the heart of your mind and soul,

love

Savannah.
