G'day everyone, we praise God for your continued prayers and support.
How are you all? The question that you might be wondering is how are we going and the church.
That is a good question. Sharon, Savannah and I are just getting over a real blessing we have had in the last two weeks. A group of 12 people came over from Pittsburgh PA to put on a VBS for our children here.
We were blessed by the commitment and servants attitude of the those who came.
The VBS was a great time, not just because we had some new children come, but also because it helped some people in the church realise what a blessing it can be to help children.
We were also impressed by the way the group worked together. Something that came up in discussion down here was the amount of vacation time we get in Australia. This was also something that stood out We get roughly 4 weeks vacation time down here. What is great is that those who came here gave up their vacation time to come and serve here. I know if I would ask those who came, did they give up their time,? they would say "no we did not give-+# up,-we willingly came to serve." They also said that they were blessed for coming here.
We believe that we have seen a little of what it will be like when we get to heaven, because even though we did not know each other all that well it did not take too long for us all to recognize what we have in common, what is that, the love of Jesus.
The VBS that took place here was all about the "Kingdom of the Son," a prayer safari. Taking a walk on the wild side. The kids got to sing some great new songs, learn new words, and most of all learn about the Lord's prayer.
We had some new children come to the VBS, this was from word of mouth. Those children who normally attend obviously told their friends and so on. We find that the best way people to get people here, is through word of mouth.
The youth group had 22 young people last Saturday night. Young Peter Hipwell was so pumped -by his involvement with the kids in the VBS that he learned something new. Peter's enthusiasm and blessing that he received from serving as a helper in the VBS showed on the Sunday following and it has rejuvenated his reason to serve.
Please be in prayer for Haley Langlands, 16, and Kristin 16 they just gave their lives to Christ. Please pray for them as their parents are not Christians. Please continue to pray that God will give us wisdom and strength.
God bless,
Phil
Greetings everyone, we pray all is well with everyone. Just wanted you to know, Philip had already done his part of this newsletter before he had his car accident, and he had planned to get me to do my part before he had his car accident. So I am writing this in the first week of August.
Please pray for him as he has had this car accident. This has set him back a long way in terms of his back injury. He is improving but it is going to take time. What a shock to have someone knock on the front door just a couple of minutes after Philip left to go and get milk and bread to say that he was involved in an accident. I never want to experience that again, or the wait for the ambulance while he was stuck in the car and in agony. Please pray as we decide what to do about another vehicle. We would like to get a minivan to help with church and youth but we are leaving this in the Lord's hands.
What a whirlwind the last 2 months have been! Life has been crazy! I have also had Savannah with a ruptured eardrum and resulting ear infection for the past week as well.
We were so blessed to have the team from West Hills church with us for 10 days for the VBS. It was such a busy time but a real time of enrichment for us. The team worked so well together and all just got in and did what needed doing. We have been reluctant to pull down all the decorations. In fact there are quite a few still left up. Well thank you all for your continued support. We thank God for you. God
love,
Sharon.
Gday my American mates, how are you all? I am going well. Wow we had so much fun in the July holidays with our American friends from Pittsburgh. They came down here to show us how to put i on a VBS. It was really bonzer.
We had around 22 children turn up over the four days that the VBS was on. The VBS was about the Lord's prayer. We went on a prayer safari. I had so much fun learning about how to pray. I had so much fun learning new songs. I had so much fun making new friends.
My mummy said that even the big kids had fun learning those new songs, especially Pete Hipwell and Mitch Bice. Daddy told me that Pete had actually been using some of those songs at i youth group and they all have been having so much fun with them. They said they like the Jambo song the best.
On Sunday the 22nd of July my daddy had a car accident after church. I was really afraid. He is still not well. The car he used has been written off. I am so glad that God took care of daddy. My mummy is still taking care of him and so am I.
Please pray for the new kids that started coming after the VBS.
Also please pray for the kids who had been coming to Paradise adventures. This is our new programme on a Sunday afternoon.
Please continue to pray for daddy and his recovery!
your little Aussie mate,
Savannah
