A New Year, and a year for God to move His church.

Elders as Reindeer Dec. 2000 Gday from down under. Sharon and I certainly wish you all a blessed New Year. May God richly bless your service for Him.

This New year holds some exciting times ahead for us as we strive to reach new goals, and seek God’s direction.

The year that has just passed us has had its times of great blessing and times of working through some rough times. As you all know Sharon had a miscarriage and just recently I had some health problems, but all is well again.

We would like you all to consider the following prayerfully. We are in the process of trying to begin new ministries here, and with this effort comes a need. We need some help in purchasing a mini bus. We do not have the finances to purchase one, and we are much in need of this vehicle.

The need is based on several ministries that we are planning to begin, such as a single parent ministry. Just recently in our community there were 30 phone calls a day over the Christmas New Year break, from mothers in distress.

We are also planning to begin a seniors ministry. Also we will be using this bus as a youth group activity bus.

This bus is a tool that we believe is necessary for the work here to be more effective. Please pray about how you could get involved in this project. We would welcome any support for this project.

On the subject of support we would ask you all to please continue to support us through your prayers. We would ask you to pray that God would work on the people’s hearts to give of their time in the work here.

We would also appreciate it very much if you would pray for the following people. Sandra Webster. She recently made her decision to follow Christ. She is nervous about her decision, but I believe that she will be fine. She just needs your prayers for her to continue.

Please also pray for Gary, Melissa, Debbie and Mark. This family just moved into the area, and they have started to come to church. They are a family that are talented, when it comes to music. We have a huge need in the area of music in the church, and we have sought God’s direction, and now it seems that God has answered our prayers.

Praise God for answered prayer! We are certainly thankful for the prayer that has gone out on our beahlf from you all. We pray for you, all the time. We ask God to bring you His blessing as you choose to be a blessing to us as you support us. Philip Leads Carols Dec. 2000

Please pray that the church here will change from a institution to a movement of God, where the people of God take action. Praise God, thank you once again,
yours in Christ,
Philip.

Christmas Picnic at Church 2000 Greetings to you all once again. Can you believe that we are almost to the end of the first month of the year already! December was definitely an interesting month. We had a bit of a scare with Philip just before Christmas, he came into the bedroom to tell me that he was having a pain in the chest. So, off we trotted to the hospital where they kept him in for a couple of days. We went to a heart specialist who suggested after not doing well on a stress test that he have an angiogram. Praise the Lord, it was clear. So it seems that the problem is with his stomach or oesophagus. He is feeling much better now, but may need to have more tests in the future.

The women’s program is going really well. The last meeting we had, we put together the Christmas stockings and pamper packs for the children and women from the shelter. We had such fun doing this and the ladies were all excited about what we were doing. The people at the shelter were awestruck by what was done for these children and especially the ladies. So often, the ladies are not thought of during the Christmas season. It is SO exciting to see the ladies looking outwards to see what can be done for others. I look forward to what the new year may bring.

I am looking into a M.O.P.S program [mothers of pre school children] to try and get that started this year. There are so many single mum’s in the area, this really could be a good outreach to them and give them a break from the children for a couple of hours. So we’ll see how that pans out this year.

Savannah is growing at an amazing rate. Gone is the baby and here is the little girl with a definate mind of her own!! Parenting certainly is interesting to say the least. Learning new things everyday! Well, we’d like to thank you once again for your prayers and would certainly appreciate them as we begin the new year. God bless.

God Bless. Sharon.

How to speak Australian and other information about Australia

Model Girl Dec. 2000Gday, I hope that you all had a ridgy-didge Christmas and New Year break.

My oldies (parents) said that it was cold over where I was born in Knoxville Tennessee right now, boy does that seem so funny because it is stinking hot here.

My Mum wanted to take us to the beach the other day. I was so rapt (pleased). Before we could go to far we had to stop at the servo (gas station). While we were at the station a rattler (train) went by. Then a ankle biter (an infant) on his three wheeler pushie (bicycle) came barrelling out of a side street with a fleabag (family dog) running after him. I yelled out to him and said, "it looks like you are bushed (tired)." He looked like he had to bust a gut (work hard) to get away from the fleabag.

While we were driving to the beach I asked my Mum where she was born, she said she was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and Daddy yelled out that my Mum and other people from Queensland are known as Bananabenders (a person from Queensland) Ha Ha.

We finally made it to the beach and had a rip snorter time (an excellent time). I had my sunnies (sunglasses) on, and I was told to put the sunscrean on because Australia has probably the highest amount of skin cancer in the world. I was told by my Daddy that he did not want me to have buckley’s (no chance) at getting this. I pray that you all have a bonzer (great) year, and that Christ is real, to all, through you,

Savannah
