G’day from down under, we thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
Well another year is set before us and we have many more opportunities to serve God in Australia. I am reminded of the passage of Scripture found in Hebrews 12:1 where it talks about the fact that we are in a race that is marked out for us. We have opportunity to serve Christ in that race, because of the fact that He is our author and perfecter of our faith.
This new year brings with it many challenges and blessings ahead. We are looking forward to what God can do through us.
We would ask you all to be praying about the following. Please be in prayer for young Daniel James who has expressed that he would like to be baptized, he is 11. His father and mother were baptized at the beginning of last year. Also please be in prayer for young Denise Sckimmings, she made a decision in December last year, and she is having a struggle with her background. Her parents are from the church of England or as some would call it over in your neck of the woods, the Episcopalian church. She is having a struggle about baptism, and going against what her parents want, but she is still old enough to make a very wise decision based upon what the Scriptures tell us.
Also I have a praise, young Jo Hodge as some of you might have come to know while here last year was baptized on Sunday the 30th of January. Please pray for Jo as she has had a rough life thus far in her young 18 years, and she is really searching for answers to her future. Please pray that God will give her wisdom. She is getting married this year, so she has a lot of important decisions to make.
Please pray for us as we begin to explore new ways of outreach this year. We are going to try a new idea for families. We are going to have a family service once a month where get the children from the new Kid’s club to participate in the service so that they will invite their parents. We would ask you to be in prayer for this on a regular basis for us as we want to see this as part of our greater vision for the community to be reached for Christ.
Also along those lines we are looking at different ways we can reach young people. So please pray for us as we explore the opportunities that God brings our way.
Please also be in prayer for young Mitchell Grob as he is searching God for answers to his future. He is seriously thinking about youth ministry.
Please be in prayer for our church this year as we start new ministry, and that the people would respond to the Holy Spirits prompting. Also this year we are going to have a marriage enrichment class, please pray that God will supply the people to lead that and that those who attend will be blessed.
Also why not think about coming to see us this year. Those who came last year were blessed and were a blessing.
Please continue to pray us.
God bless,
Phil.
Hello again it sure seems like we have not talked for a while. Our Christmas season has come and gone and we have had some lovely weather. Unlike you all up there or so we have heard. We have had some really nice hot summer days and recently some terrible storms.
As I mentioned above our Christmas was great with some of the church people spending the day with us at our home. We exchanged gifts and spent time reflecting on what it meant.
This New Year has brought us some new challenges as Philip has mentioned. For one Savannah started "big school" as she calls it. That was certainly a new challenge for us, as we have had to get used to the quiet house. She seems to love it thus far.
I am also going to school this year. I will have started a computer course by the time you have read this newsletter. I am looking forward to getting back into the area of study in order to help the church office, and possibly down the track to bring some extra income into our house. So please could you all pray for me as I endeavor to gain the necessary education in computer.
On the subject of new challenges I would ask you to pray for our women’s group as we are going to start a new way of outreach for this. We need wisdom as to know what is needed. The ladies are wanting something new and challenging, so we need you to pray that God will show us what it is He wants us to do.
Also please be in prayer for the Sunday school as we need more teachers.
Also please be in prayer for the New Kid’s club. We had such a great time with the week of VBS that we did in the last week of January while the kids were still out on holidays. We saw some of the fruit of that week recently when we had our first official Kid’s club program last Friday night.
Also please pray for Philip’s family. His parents have been going through some major marriage problems after 46 years of marriage it is a bit hard to quite understand, but as we have said we can only pray for them, so could you also? Also please pray for Philip’s brother Tim as he has some major health problems.
May God richly bless you
love,
Sharon.
Gday my American friends, I sure hope that you all had a great Christmas, and that you are having a great New year.
My Christmas was great, it was very hot, unlike you all up there, as my mummy told me it most probably was cold.
I enjoyed a holiday with Auntie Donna and Uncle Steve after Christmas. That was so much fun.
I started big school this past week it was so much fun and I love my teacher. My daddy was a little sad to see me go on my first day. Apparently he cried and mummy clapped her hands with glee.
My daddy said that the recent kid’s club that I attended will most probably continue and that I will have a chance to be in a play that we will do in front of the church and the parents of the other children who come to the Kid’s club. My daddy said that this is about outreach. I am not certain I know what that means, but all I know is that I want to be a part of the play that we are going to do in about a month’s time at the family service.
My mummy said that this year we are trying to reach out to more families, so I guess that means we will have so much fun doing that.
I know that I love my family, and I am so glad that daddy is better now after his car accident. I was really upset when we had the car accident in November last year because daddy hurt his neck, but thanks to God and the prayers that were offered up on daddies behalf I know that he is better now.
My mummy said that we are planning to go to America next year in May to report to you all. I am not sure what that means, but I guess that will mean we will see you all over there for a couple of months. My daddy said that he has to try and find someone to fill in for him at the church. I am not sure I know what that means either, if you do could you please let me know and daddy know if you could help. He needs to also begin to make arrangements apparently with you all about some speaking engagements at your church. Daddy said that he already has a speaking engagement booked for May the 7th, 2006.
Hey kids I just wanted to thank you all for praying for me and would ask that you continue to do so. Please pray for my friends at school as I have asked them to come to Sunday school. Please pray that they will come. My mummy said that it was good for me to ask other kids to come.
My daddy was again yelling at the TV the other day when he was watching the game called cricket. I don’t know if any of you have ever seen that game as it is probably not a sport that any Americans play. As I said he was yelling at the umpire again. And he said that they were silly wombats for making such a terrible decision. I guess you daddies understand that as I have said before. Maybe some of you kids understand what I mean because your daddy has done the same. So you understand when I say that it seems a little a strange when they yell at the TV and it does not yell back, ha ha.
I must go to preschool,
your little Aussie mate,
Savannah
